Cineform File conversion for Free. Legally

This is something I have been looking for for quite awhile, though I don't make Videos to often now, At one time I worked in video and film production. So now that DSLR's can capture very high quality moving images, I am of course drawn to that aspect of my 5DMK2 and my 550D.

Getting those clunky H.264 files to run well in my NLE has taken a Processor,  Ram, Graphics Card upgrade. But for editing on a laptop everyone says use the CineForm file format. I didn't want to buy CineForm Neoscene as I would not often use it but after trying the Trial Version it certainly is a nice format.

So here we are, if you would like to use the Cineform CFHD file format on your windows computer try the following

First download and install GO Pro Cineform Studio free version Here I do not use a Go-Pro but I am glad they bought CineForm. You see when you install this we get the CFHD codec installed on our computers.

Download and install MP4Cam2AVI Easy Converter Here

Download and install Virtualdub Freeware Here

Download and install x264 VFW Codec Free Here

So now open MP4cam2Avi Freeware and select your H.264 .MOV file

All that happens here is the file has its file type renamed there is no transcoding so it very quick

When this is done open Virtualdub

This is a very cool piece of freeware and like many enthusiast made programs it has many many features. So I will only show what we need for the job in hand

Go Video-Filters and deinterlace for now use the default setting. Now go Video Compression

Choose GoPro-CineForme, and set for Higher HD

Now Save as AVI and it will convert your file to cineform. Now you are ready to edit smoothly in your favorite editor :)

I hope this is of some use to you Guys out there

Hanumanasana, Seated Splits, Monkey Pose

Hanumanasana Andrea Boudin. Photography © Brian D. Brady

Hanumanasana, (Sanskrit: हनुमानासन) or Monkey Pose, Seated Splits  is an asana.

Hanuman = powerful Hindu deity with physical features of a monkey

This pose, in which the legs are split forward and back, mimics Hanuman's famous leap from the southern tip of India to the island of Sri Lanka.

The yogi pushes one leg forward and one leg backwards until they are in the splits position. Once the yogi has moved the legs into position, there are several variations of arm and upper body position including Añjali Mudrā.

Marichyasana Marichi = an ancient Indian sage.
In Sanskrit, “Marichi” means a ray of light or father of humanity, and “asana” means yoga pose

Marichyasana  can be performed with several slightly different leg positions. This seated twist is said to cleanse the body by removing toxins from internal organs.

Padmasana, The Lotus Position

The Lotus Position: Andrea Boudin. Photography: Brian D. Brady
Padmasana, The Lotus Position, padma = lotus
The Lotus Position (Sanskrit: पद्मासन [pɐd̪mɑːs̪ɐn̪ɐ], IAST: padmāsana)

The ultimate yoga pose, it is adopted to allow the body to be held completely steady for long periods of time. As the body is steadied the mind becomes calm, the first step towards meditation. It is an established posture, commonly used in the Hindu Yoga and Buddhist contemplative traditions

Padahastasana, Hand to Feet Posture

Andrea Boudin. Photography © brian d. brady

Padahastasana
From the Sanskrit words pada (पाद; pāda) meaning "foot", hasta (हस्ता; hastā) meaning "hand", and asana (आसन; āsana) meaning "posture" or "seat"

Hand-to-feet-posture, or standing forward bend

the main physical benefit is to stretch the entire backside of the body from the head to the heels, it invigorates the nervous system and increases the supply of blood to the brain.

Raw Therapee, The Open Source Image Processor that's Better then Lightroom

This is the number one Raw File processor. It has the coolest NASA/HUBBLE sharpening called RL Convolute and a multitude of controls that let you change just about every aspect of your image. It lets you do far more then either Adobe Camera Raw or Lightroom will let you do.

The one drawback is that it takes quite a time to do the processing, a problem if you want to bangout images (Read "Commercial Use") but if you are more Fine Art orientated and have time and the inclination to spend on your images then this is the Processor for you. Having said that everyone will find something that they need in this program, even if they only use it now and again. Its Free, Fully Functional and can be left on your desktop or be your portable "Raw Developer" on a USB stick

We will be using this and other image processors at this years Spanish, Yoga and Photography Retreats
